Use Wood Slices To Make Photograph Wall Hangings For Your Family
A great way to show members of your family that you love them is by giving them each a beautiful wall hanging that is decorated with a photograph of a fond memory. Cut And Prepare The Wood Slices
If you are skilled at cutting wood, slice the wood evenly with a power saw. Keep your face and eyes protected while completing this step. Once the surface of each slice is smooth, wash them all off with a scrub brush and soap. Rinse with water and place them in a ventilated area to dry.
Stain The Wood And Attach Photographs
Stain the wood to enhance the wood grain on each piece. Pour the stain into a paint tray and dip a rag into it. Wipe the cloth over the surface of each slice. Wait a few hours for the stain to dry. Select some of your favorite photographs and attach one to each piece of wood with wood glue. Brush varnish over the top of the wood slices, covering the pictures and wood evenly. Use a picture hanging kit for each wall hanging. Place the hardware at the top, center on the backside of each hanging. Use a ruler to help you locate this point. Attach the hardware with a screwdriver. Before giving the wall hangings to your family members, consider if you would like to add any extra decorative touches to them.
Lace trim or ribbon attached around the pictures is an option that you may want to consider. Both embellishments are sold with self-adhesive backings. Cut pieces of each item, peel off the backing, and press them onto the areas that you want to enhance.
