Installing A New Garage Floor? Install Garage Floor Coating

If you are installing a new garage for your home, one thing that takes a lot of abuse is the flooring. You walk on the floor and will likely spill things on the floor. Large items may fall and hit the floor. One of the best things you can do to help with these things is to apply a garage floor coating. The best time to do this is when your garage will be completely empty.

Below are two different types of garage floor coatings you can choose from. 

Polyaspartic Garage Floor Coating

Polyaspartic garage floor coating is one of the best types available as it is made with high-grade materials. Polyaspartic coating penetrates deep into the concrete to create a strong bond. This prevents water, chemicals, etc. from seeping into the concrete. Dust, dirt, and other debris will not be as visible with this coating. It also comes in a variety of colors to make your garage flooring look more interesting and decorative. If you choose a different color, colored flakes are added to the coating. This type of coating will last you for many years. 

Polyaspartic garage floor coating works well in a variety of temperatures or humidity. This means even if your garage gets very cold in the winter this coating will stand up well. If there is a lot of high humidity in your area you will not have to worry about the coating coming off. 

Epoxy Garage Floor Coating

There is also an epoxy garage floor coating available. With this type, you may be able to apply it yourself if you are the DIY type. You can find the coating at home improvement stores. If you are not the DIY type, however, there are professionals that can apply epoxy floor coating for you. This coating is not nearly as durable as polyaspartic floor coating, however, but it is less expensive. It will still offer some protection against spills and light scratches. If you use your garage a lot, you should consider the more expensive option. This type of coating will not last nearly as long as the other type so plan to replace it each year or every couple of years. 

Over time you will notice this coating start to peel off. Not only will this look bad but will not provide protection for you.
